The problem is your assuming logic and reason in a war with barbarity and mass murder and assume Trump and company are capable of some expert geopolitical false flag operation yet have shown rather incapable of basic governace.
The only reason we think its false flag is because you assume Asad is a sane logical driven Dictator however there is evidence that Assad has killed many people using convential weapons en masse like many mad men of history. To me it makes far more sense he used chemical weapons because he has done so many times and not paid a price for it and now he has.
The idea that Trump can expertly conduct a false flag operation while being incapble of governing a day without a scandal throws cold water on this idea.
