No, it was not obvious. Some would mean it to imply Nintendo doesn't understand it in an way, and your statement wasn't clear on what you meant.
And her comment does not prove Nintendo doesn't think it is important, mainly because a lot of us have known her to make statements that don't fit Nintendo's official positions. So all that statement proves is that she herself didn't have anything better to tell us about the situation.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
