How does one react in face of a suicide? Is there anything noteworthy to look out for, to prevent it? Can it be prevented, if you suspect it?

14-15 just seems so young to give up hope on the rest of your life...

There are certainly warning signs.  Apathy, low energy, isolating behavior, but everybody is different.  The student I had certainly had all those signs.  He had a terrible home life and he had made attempts before.  He was in counseling and was being watched, but nobody can be vigilant 100% of the time and if somebody really wants to kill themself they will...

That's... even sadder, really. Fully well knowing that it's going on and having no means to prevent it.

Even knowing fully well that it does happen, I am still troubled by the fact that a 14 year old can't find anything o live for anymore.

«He had a terrible home life» I know that I shouldn't, but I can't help but blame his parents/guardians, in that case...

Suicide rates are going up, in many western countries, particularly for teens. I wonder where exactly we are failing...
