Let's get to the meat and potatos, and cut the bs.

It can run games at native 4k, while the Xbone is 900p in most cases (skipping 1080p, 2k, better than 2k but not 4k checkerboarding, and going straight to 4k), while Wii U to Switch IS a gen change going from 700p to 900p. This is a vastly bigger leap for Microsoft in every possible way. Even doing this, Digital Foundry says a lot of the simpler games running at native 4k may even have overhead for better effects. So where do you stand. a console being the weakest of the two jumping ahead of its competition and its mid gen upgrade, will it need an xbone2 in a year or two, or more like several?

Scorpio supports Checkerboarding.

Scorpio will run with the entire existing video game and accessory base, the fact it runs all the current games better is just icing on the cake.

It's hardware is also not next-gen.

The CPU is apparently the same as the XBO, just clocked a bit faster.

There is more to it than that. Microsoft has made changes to reduce latency and keep the CPU fed better.
They have also offloaded a significant amount of CPU time, which free's up the CPU for more important serialised tasks.

The GPU is only about 50% more powerful than the Pro's.

Based on what Metric? Flops? I can tell you why that's highly inaccurate. We don't even know what GPU architecture it's using, untill we do, we don't know what kind of efficiency gains that could be had and what kind of performance leed it has in the real world.

And like the Pro, all that additional power is going toward higher TV resolutions, not pushing the overall graphics themselves to next-gen levels.

No. The extra hardware should allow higher levels of fidelity over the Pro. It's not Next Gen. But it will have that advantage.

It will have no real exclusives aside from VR titles, and will share 90+% of the same library as the PS4 & PS4 Pro and 99+% of the same library as the XBO.

Probably should wait for E3 before deciding it has no exclusives. Microsoft obviously wanted to reveal Scorpio before E3 to win a few more news cycles and possibly free up E3 to talk about other things.

TL;DR: This is simply a performance boost to an existing platform, not an entirely new platform.

100% agreed.

The performance equals a slow PC with a bad CPU and mediocre GPU. I wouldn't call that nextgen.

Impossible to have high-end PC components in a console anymore anyway.
