Seems you've either been completely ignoring MS's marketing and interviews for Scorpio or are just confused as to who these premium consoles are geared towards. The mainstream is irrelevant here. Just like the Pro, this is an enthusiasts console. The mainstream aren't supposed to have big interest in it. As Papa Phil said, the Xbone S is still the console they'll sell the most of. And why would Sony drop the Pro by $100? Or start leaking PS5 stuff already in 2018?

The way they announced the specs is exactly the way a hardcore gamers machine should be announced. No executive on stage throwing out numbers and design talk, no videos that don't show much of any difference and just confuses people. Give one of the most knowledgeable journalists in the industry access to your stuff and let him do his thing. Save the rest for a later date. Also, spec wise, it represents a pretty substantial boost over Pro. So nah, it's a bit more than a "Pro+", despite what some of the more imaginative people were hoping for. And specs don't even tell the whole story, the engineering here should make a large difference beyond what specs would show. You watched the DF video? He explains it very clearly. It's gonna be gud.

If the Pro hits $299 this year, you can bet quite a bit more customers in the mainstream will be interested.  And sorry, but no, it basically is a Pro +.  It'll run the same multiplat games at a higher resolution.  There will also be games that will require checkerboarding to hit 4K, though.  And most of those games released on it will still be using the same models/geometry from the OG PS4/XBO counterparts.  The thing is still using Jaguar for goodness sake.  We'll have to wait til PS5 for a real leap.

The Pro will be a year old in Nov, it will be getting a price cut.  Sony may opt for just a $50 cut.  However, there is a real shot that they may go aggressive and release a Pro S (which has been rumored) at $299.  And who said Sony is going to be the one leaking PS5 info?  If the Scorpio had been more powerful than they may have been compelled to let a few nuggets drop here or there.  As it is, now, those leaks will just start to happen naturally.

So you're saying when prices drop, more people become interested? Wow, who knew. Of course, what that has to do with launch prices, is beyond me. The mainstream certainly weren't interested in the Pro at $400. Of course you knock $100 off, more will come around to it. Whatever price the Scorpio launches at, you knock $100 off, more will be enticed to buying it. But that doesn't fix the issue with your statement, that the mainstream won't be interested in a $500 launch price. Again, they aren't supposed to be. It isn't a mainstream console, just like the Pro wasn't at launch (or now).

Your theories on specs and performance are your opinions, but I'll trust Leadbetter over you, thanks :)
