In sheer specs, yes, but thanks to console specific optimizations and the architectural improvements MS has made, Digital Foundry believes it will perform closer to a 1070 or Fury: "From what I've seen so far, there is some evidence that Scorpio's true 4K performance could pose a challenge to the likes of Nvidia's GTX 1070 and AMD's Fury X-class hardware."
They tested Forza 6 Apex on PC (which is basically the same as the Scorpio tech demo they were shown) and found that it took a 1070 to hit 4K 60 FPS ultra settings on it like they were shown on Scorpio. |
Yea but I don't think "optimizations" will matter to that degree. We have seen the same claims be made with the ps4 pro vs a 1060 yet in almost all games, the ps4 pro loses pretty handly to the 1060...
As for Forza 6 Apex... I can't exactly find many PC benchmarks for that and it's interesting they didn't choose Forza Horizon 3 since there are plenty of benchmarks for that. But if we use youtube... We can see a 480 be able to hit around 4k 60fps with ultra settings... Now there are of course many dips but again, the Scorpio is faster than a 480.
