Or the rights revert. Which will not work. They're forced to make another reboot. They're out of ways to retell that story. Unless they want to go the route of actually following the comic's origins, to the letter. That's the only way I see them even getting people to watch another reboot.

Could Fox make a dirt cheap F4 movie like the old 1994 Corman one and still keep the rights or does it have to be big budget?

The Roger Corman version was great from a story standpoint.
