Scorpio is supposedly 6TF of performance that's way more than enough for a generational leap, as seen with Switch replacing Wii U bad PR is only temporary and they've brushed off such situations in the past.

The part about target audience proves my point as the's no logical sense in making a platform with a generational leap and have a plan for it that limits iits appeal, MS at this point know PS4 won't be caught so I can't see them not turning Scorpio into a gen 9 platform to get a head start of Sony and force their hand.

I don't agree with the first point. Nintendo can get away with a small power upgrade because they offer new ways to play games, in this case the home console/portable hybrid, they are in less direct competition with the other console makers, and they offer a wealth of massive first party titles that sell systems. And they make new IP too.

Scorpio is a great mid-gen upgrade, but a poor generational leap when you are in direct competition with another console with a higher focus on power. A PS5 in say two years would blow it out of the water. I guess you could then argue that MS would have another upgrade a year or two after, but it would then have to see a huge upgrade to make it significantly more powerful than the PS5.

The base model X1 and PS3 are like what 1TF of performance, 6TF is in that regard a big leap at 6 times the performance that's a pretty standard leap for a new gen it's only the 7th gen that had a gigantiic leap in comparison.

At 6 times the performance Sony would have to act if Scorpio was positioned as a 9th gen platform because people don't care about a PS5 in 2 years because as it goes Scorpio would be the present, MS would be making a mistake handling Scorpio as a mid gen upgrade that only serves to further complicate their position.
