You might want to play the trilogy before you touch this game. You'll be able to understand the fans of the series' complaints with this one. 

Why would you do that? Reduce the enjoyment of a game that people new to the franchise might like as simply a competent TPS/RPG space epic. Better I think to play Andromeda and then go back and play the trilogy.
