Personally, I don't think there's a lot of double dippers.

My brother works at GameStop. He tells me how many customers come back with replacements and returns etc. Lets say its a fair amount over the span if a generation. 

Also doesn't help that majority of people i know brought more than one console. One of my friends own 4 PS3 for the Blu Ray player, 1 for each room. Thats extreme but he made up 4 customers. 

Im not a console guy yet every console i brought i end up buying another one due to problems.

Well, the majority of people I know only bought 1 console. In fact all of them only bought 1 console. I've had 7 consoles in total and never had to replace any.

Also, replacements and returns at GameStop wouldn't count as a new sale.
