Any home that has more than one of the same console can play competitively or co-op online using one digital copy of a game and one online subscription in the same home.

Same can be done on PC via Steam.

The days of every game having split-screen local multiplayer is over for consoles, you need multiple consoles to do it these days, so it's really the same as the PC.

The main issue that I have with PCs is compatibility. If I want to play a PS1, I just pop it in the PS1 and turn it on. However, I have had many problems trying to run older games on my PC (as I mainly wanted to play DOS and early Windows games).
