Jesus, that's a high score. Actually, what is it that makes persona so special? Why does it score so much higher than virtually every other jrpg series?

1. Story is fantastic. Theres depth to it often, highlighting issues within society.

2. Characters are well developed, good Dialogue & humor.

3.  Balanceing act, of developeing your social links /  status attributes / combat items (weapons, armor, accessories).

4. Soundtracks, usually these games last forever (100+hours) so you ll be listening to these songs alot, it sticks with you afterwards.

5. Good unlockables, farming is fun/rewarding, melding persona's can be fun too (theres days where you get extra traits/bonus's).

6. Love intrests, you can try and win over the girl you like most.

7. Gives a "fun" look into how things are in japan.

Theres a certain "feel" to the game, its own identity. The art style is great.

That's quite a list.  It's kind of weird to see a series that (to me)  looks somewhat unspectacular s consistently score so highly among players and reviewers. Just judging by how loved the games are,  they must absolutely excell at all those things. Happy to hear it has a good soundtrack too. The music can sometimes make all the difference,  especially in an RPG.

I've been meaning to try the series for a while,  but I've never really had the chance. Are the games stories connected?  Can I just jump right into p5, or would i need to play p4 first?
