Why couldn't you eat or drink for 24 hours? I know you said you had a doctor's appointment for something but i've never heard of physically not supposed to be eating anything for 24 hours because of an appointment.
The closest I can think of is when I go to the dentist and I get my teeth cleaned and they put some cleaning shit on them or whatever it is and tell me not to drink anything for the next hour or something.
