Except the 3DS also had backwards compat like the Vita did, so really the 3DS was the PC and the Vita, well the Vita. Liking the PC or not, you're still cutting off it's good points and aren't cutting anything back for the console side of things.
The indie scene on Steam has a ton of crapshoots, with greenlight still existing and not being sorted out. Yes, eevryone should be looking at the one hit wonder indie's that make it big, but not the ones that keep buying Unit assets and trying to sell a cobbled together crapshoot for £10 a pop. What's wrong with the industry going the way it is right now, with all sorts of games pandering to all kinds of crowds, why does half of my want for good visuals and gameplay have to suffer?. I love indie, retro and modern games, but I also love unique art styles and cutting edge visuals, I'd rather everything not be reduced to one single view. |
3DS didn't play the majority of N64 games on top of being backwards compatible with DS. Vita had PSP, PS2, PS3 (to an extent) and PSX libraries backing it up. Not to mention people were claiming that the Vita could emulate DS and GBA games.
Greenlight is a big mess right now for sure.
You're right, it is best to have all sorts of games for different tastes.
