I'm suggesting that the PS4 is better because it has more quality exclusives. Comparing the PC's decades long back catalog to a console that launched in 2013 isn't a fair comparison at all. A better comparison would be to line up exclusives year by year. What games did PS3 get in 2007-2013? What games did PC get in those same years? Were any of those games well recieved by critics? I think, when you answer these questions with an open mind you find that the PS3 beat the PC in it's heyday. Same goes for the PS2 vs PC games from 2001-2006, and PS1 vs PC games from 1995-2000.

The thread asks if PC is a safer choice due to the volatility of the console market. Of course it's a loaded question to begin with. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loaded_question The console market isn't volatile and hasn't been for 30 years. Sony has been pumping out quality content at a steady rate for the last 20+ years. My statement and list was an attempt to show that Sony is just as strong and safe a bet as ever.

So it's a loaded question and thus PC isn'ta safe purchase at all because it doesn't have any number of quality games as consoles have been beating PC every single year for well over a decade?.

Somehow I don't find that a fair comparisson at all. You won't include the list because you think that's not fair, yet your way of listing things has put PC at the backseat for mroe than a decade without any fighting chances at all, as well as calling the entire thread a loaded question.

I remember when the Vita and 3DS were going head to head, Vita fans used to argue that it was the better system, because of all the PSX classics you could play on it. Hindsight shows that the 3DS was just a better system.

Back when the 360 and PS3 were getting off the ground, you could have argued that the Wii had "more games than the competitors" thanks to the Virtual Console. Even as a diehard Wii fan, I would never have made such a bad argument.

I don't think I'm being unfair. I'm just holding the PC to the same standards that I held the Vita and Wii to.

Don't get me wrong. I actually like the PC. It has lots of cool exclusives that I'm interested in playing like...

Civ VI
Shadow Tactics Blades of the Shogun
Hearts of Iron
Pillars of Eternity
Homeworld Remastered Collection
Galactic Civilizations III
Age of Wonders III

I wish the rest of the industry would take notes from the Indie scene on steam. Less of a focus on cutting edge graphics, and more of a focus on fun. Ethical work practices. More than fair pricing.
