Those tribes were still nomadic.

Religion played a big role in people settle, to come together, create places of worship and eventually cities around them. The oldest cities in the world are known to be religious centers, hell religion played the central role in the rise of the oldest civilizations like Egypt and Babylon.

When you study history you learn all of that.

It sucks for some fedoras to learn that religion got us where we are today but facts are facts.

I never said the tribes weren't nomadic. You said religion brought people together and I was refuting that by saying people coalesced in to tribes regardless of religion.

Wanna provide some proof of that maybe? Proof that religion is the reason people settled rather than because of agriculture and easy access to a water source? Proof that religion even came before people settled rather than after even? Don't know much about Babylon but for Egypt I'd argue the central role in their rise was the fertile agricultural lands around the Nile.

Also, wtf is a fedora? And you can say facts are facts all you like, but you haven't actually given any facts yet. You've just given your opinions, and when I've asked you to provide some evidence to back your claims up... nada.

Early rulers (god-kings) used religion (nothing concrete, just fragments of beliefs) to justify their position, which was necessary to keep order.

People thinking rationaly would have brought revolt.

In a democratic society, it's no longer necessary, as there are legitimate reasons for a ruler's power.
