Religion being taught in schools

What's the problem? Religious Education/Studies is a subject in the UK school system. It teaches you about religions, what they believe and understand. This is how understanding in general is taught.

Anyone who says that religion shouldn't be taught in school doesn't understand that there is a difference between teaching a child/kid what other faiths believe and church... which is what they think is going on.

Or they just think it's a waste of the kid's time and taxpayers money and they should be learning something else instead...

A better understand leads to a better world. Being ignorant about other religions... well, you know where that leads. Religions are fascinating to me, the many ideas they have formed and how it has shaped our cultures. Teaching kids about the differences and so obvious similarities between them will also make them understand other people's thinkings. It also allows them to also question the faith that might have been forced upon them as children and to make their own choice about faith.
