It appears that you just had the bad luck to run in with someone either mentally disturbed, or someone with a really bad caracter.As Pokoko said, she could have easily been someone with some disorder that can be easily triggered by something you did, that should have had no meaning at all(like the quick laugh you had at the starngeness of the situation), and she being paranoic/racist/ mentaly unbalanced thought they were making fun of her and thought she had to answer back.
Either way, at the very least it ended rather quickly and "painless", and thats the best thing about it.It would have been a real pain in the ass if she came along and started a discussion about how you two were "racists" and all, and until you had disproven all her lies, it would certainly take awhile.
Just happy you two are fine!
