Besides gay marriage is legal now, and I don't see him changing that. The guy obviously says what he thinks the majority of his audience wants to hear, and being interviewed in Fox News I'm not surprised to hear him say that. But who knows what he actually thinks, people change. HRC was once against gay marriage too.

Later on when questioned about it during the campaign, he didn't necessarily backtrack or apologise for his anti-LGBTQI stance, just that the issue was "put to rest" for the time being.
Considering millions voted for trump because he is someone who "speaks his mind" and tends not to "backflip" on rhetoric... Well.
With that, he has recruited multiple anti-LGBTQI people in his cabinet such as Mike Pence... Actions still speak louder than words.
There was a draft executive order at one point back in January that caused a stir, which never got signed and is now backtracked after much opposition, which would have allowed federal employees to refuse to serve LGBTQI people based on their religious beliefs, opening up discrimination against LGBTQI people.
And then you have the Trans toilet issue. Only the USA could make such an issue an actual real dramatic issue. But they succeeded, Trans people are under the rainbow flag as well remember.

To be fair. Trump would never have made the changes Obama would have to benefit the LGBTQI community.
