The End Is Near. GameStop Is Closing Approx. 225 Stores Worldwide

More info to add context to this empty thread:

GameStop has 6,614 stores in operation, of which 4,434 are located in the United States, 343 in Canada, 413 in Australia/New Zealand and 1,424 are in Europe. Our stores operate primarily under the names of GameStop and EB Games. Our stores sell new and used video game software, hardware and accessories for video game systems from Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft. In addition, the company sells PC entertainment software, related accessories and other merchandise.

So 225 stores being closed is 3% of all of their stores or 5% of their stores in US.

What I'd pull from this is that their growth has stalled over many years now and they are removing the dead weight. Its clear that is true from the other actions they've taken over the last, idk, 10 years maybe. Where they've branched well beyond just gaming and added other types of electronics, aggressive used game policies, and what seems like half of their floor space is with merchandise only loosely related to games if at all.
