Does Witcher 3 ever get good?

It took me a looooong time to get into it. But you've already done and the Barron's quest and it had me hooked by then so I reckon you're boned.

The most fun I had with W3 was the second playthrough on Death March. The meh combat all of a sudden became awesome.
