Doing digging it seems the really low prices are scam artists.  The minor price variance, like $20 off seems to be a handful of retailers selling through Amazon taking advantage of those taking advantage of the situation, realizing they can price themselves just a bit lower and sell all their stock.  Nintendo has certainly not cut the price.

This is bad news then. Hopefully it isn't sustained for long because if it is Nintendo could find themselves in the same situation as MS, with people waiting for price drops a bargains.

I STRONGLY doubt that will happen.  Like. REALLY strongly doubt it.  For one, Nintendo isn't promoting a lower price, doing fire sales, etc.  The official price on shelves and in commercials is 299.  Second, it's a fairly small number of units actually being sold for anything under MSRP.  Majority are being sold at or above.  These 150 and 200 deals are, as I said, scam artists with multiple reports of failed delivery and such.  And lastly, all this is tied to these early supply constraints and are likely to only last a brief period and not be at all significant for that period (Amazon is just one portion of the market and the only one where this is going on).

The Xbox situation was generated by official, MS promoted fire sales and bundles, constantly, on all sites and all stores for a period of over 2 years, almost 3.  Completely different situation in every regard.
