If we are going for super popular comedy series, Jojo at least rivals Gintama.

In more niche stuff, osomatsu san is gold, in a more slice of life kind there is Tekyuu, etc.

But I'm more of a josei, shojo 15-18 and slice of life psychological seinen type. I'll only be satisfied when A girl on the Shore gets adapted by an indie movie maker.

Sure Gintama is primarily a comedy but it is multi-genre in reality. Like look at the current arcs. It has those elements and is a complete universe if you will. You have action, slice of life, psychological and it mixes tem brilliantly. Never watched JoJo so can't comment on that
