Because portable gaming has evolved, this evolution is apparent in the form factor when I use the Switch in a portable manner I don't have the JCs attached most of the time so any issue with size is null and void to me and not every game is going to be played in the same manner either, Switch is still a handheld no matter how it is played in portable mode which makes the statement even more bizarre. That's why he should clarify when he makes a statement because to me it's a contradiction because the size of the device is the same as a Vita, you and him can have your preferences but I don't care for them tbh if I read a statement that isn't clarified I'll respond to it as such. You keep banging on about his statement being tame like he's being attacked which to me indicates you being more in a defensive stance as well, any statement can be responded to regardless of how tame it is and for you to think otherwise is mind boggling. |
We're going to have to agree to disagree on the handheld front. I'm of the belief something has to be held in your hands to be a handheld. I don't consider the Switch a handheld when docked, so i don't see why i would when it's sitting on a table while i use a controller. That's just a more flexible version of it being docked.
Regardless, as i already said there are other variables size can be relevant to. If he's using it as a traditional handheld akin to the Vita, the Switch is indeed bigger. If he's using it as a tablet, there's still more he needs to carry around. In both situations, he might simply prefer the screen to be smaller. None of these are contradictions.
If you think he should clarify [xyz] then fine, but I find it odd you're unwilling to assume a neutral position, but are willing to assume he's being contradictory. The absence of information doesn't create a contradiction. You'll notice the closest to an assumption I've made is that he's talking about handhelds in the traditional sense, but my primary point of argument (that he hasn't said anything contradictory, and that his comment can be personally correct) doesn't require any assumption. I've not even said that his preferences aren't contradictory, just that this statement here isn't inherently.
I never said it couldn't be responded to on that basis. It's just that the more limited the scope of a comment, the more likley it's subjectively genuine. I'd certainly respond differently to "it's a bit too big" and "jesus fuck this thing is massive, it's way too big".
I'm not sure why you're coupling my and his preferences as being apposed to yours. All I've said to you on the Switch front is that i don't share Yoko's preferences. As i mentioned to goodnightmoon though, the Vita actually gave my hands cramps to i expect i'll prefer the Switch's design.
