While Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo do the marketing to hype up the consoles (They do have fantastic games btw) there is one device that doesn't need hyping to sell AAA games and that is the PC. Steam itself has over 14,000 games, other websites like EA account for another couple thousand, and that doesn't include emulations of console games. So that means there are that many more AAA titles on the PC then the competition. Also platforms like PSNow and EA Access are allowing PC users to experience more titles.

Price wise PC wins again. My Steam cataloge includes hundreds of games (sadly I haven't played 5% of them). That is because the price is so damn cheap to buy the games, once you get past the PC cost everything diminishes. Even brand new titles such as Wildlands can be found for $40 easily and if you do a little more digging sometimes at $30.

Controls have more options. You can use a PC mouse with keyboard, Xbox 360 controller, Xbox One controller, PS4 controller, various VR headsets, and even cheap off brands. Very versatile, can use almost anything.

Multimedia is made for PC. The only reason consoles now do extra stuff such as Netflix and Hulu is because the PC made it popular. All of this has been done on a PC years before consoles.

The only issue with PC is the hassle which rarely comes with consoles. Sometimes you have to upgrade something, sometimes your computer is too new for a certain game, sometimes a controller doesn't work with a game, sometimes people use mods online, and sometimes it's more than just pushing a power switch and playing.

I'm happy I bought a powerful PC, but I come to find myself never using it for gaming anymore. I use it as a multimedia device along with my Smart TV. Everyone is different.
Edit: You can make a decent gaming PC that will run new games on normal setting for around $600. Use the rest to get a couple of games.
