I guess this question kind of goes beyond the bounds of the thread, but it's a subject I'm interested in so waht the hell... Not withstanding that movies take quite some time to go from theaters to Netflix (if they even make it at all), there is something to be said for the theater experience IMO. Going to the theater, sitting in the seats, seeing the huge projection screen, watching previews, sitting through the credits, all of that is still important to me. There are a couple of boutique theaters in my town and I'll frequently catch screenings of old movies there. Even movies that I have on BluRay or movies that are available on streaming. The experience is valuable to me in a way that sitting at home and watching NetFlix is not. It's hard to explain. |
Definitely, you're not the only one. I used to love going to the theatres when I was young with friends to see brand new movies. Now I see it as annoying. The seats are gross and greasy, people talk during the movie, sleep during the movie, babies cry during a movie, people take out their phones during a movie, they move in an out during a movie, kick your seat, make messes, and I really don't want to deal with vast majority of people.
It's easier to have some close friends over. Make some home-made popcorn for $5 in total, or order cheap pizza, have a beer, wine, or whatever and enjoy the movie. In these cases we don't have to worry about upsetting someone else, we know the relationship between us is more important than the actual movie. It's a good time.
