I had a pet Salamander aptly named Sally. Her food was hard to come by, especially in my area. Sally was cool though, and we tried for a very long time to keep her. We had to travel 40 minutes to get food for her for a month, and we continued to do this for a year or two.However I was only a child and we stopped getting food for her and I didn't know what to do. She slowly died of starvation. My salamander could have lived for years, if we fed her or released her. I think she lived for 2 months in a filthy aquarium without eating anything. Always a big regret for me, and I now know to never take on a pet that I can't provide for.
It is odd because we also once had a pet snapping turtle, but the guy was annoying enough that my mother released him.
