Except it is a home console with a handheld mode

you're got that completely flipped, it's a handheld with a home console mode. The hardware is on the handheld, not the dock.

Lmao, i'm still completely baffled that people think the switch is a console and not a handheld.

Because Nintendo themselves said home console with a handheld option.  Bad choice oof words, but I see why they did it.

The line between home console and handheld is being blurred in terms of quality.  Nintendo are using this as their trump card as MS and Sony have yet to pull something off to this degree (remote play has too many flaws to even compare).

I think the main reason they worded it like this was to ensure fans that big IPs will be on the same scale as current gen consoles even though the core unit is portable.  One cannot deny that Breath of the Wild or the new Mario is/will be every bit as advanced as anything on the PS4 or X1.  Sure graphics might take a little hit, but lets face it, most PS4 or X1 games are just like the games we saw on the 360 and PS3 but with better visuals (with both the WiiU and the Switch being more powerful than those two as well).

To me, the Switch is the Switch.  It is both.  However if I HAD to choose, I would also say it is a portable with a handheld option.  The reason is simple.  If a game is available for my PS4 and Switch, the PS4 will obviously have the better visual fidelity.  However if I were to get it for the Switch, it would be the ability to play the exact same game in portable format.

Switch is a great gaming device that has a lot of potential, especially with Nintendo IPs to back it up.  People need to stop trying to lable it and enjoy it for what it is.  Anything otherwise will do more harm than good.

As for MH, I say Nintendo needs to do whatever it takes to keep it exclusive.  It will be a huge system seller and will only help the Switch moving forward.  I don't see this franchise going multiplat anytime soon, regardless of what some people might want.
