What are you talking about? This console is likely the fastest console on the market (in terms of UI) since the cartridge days of the 90´s. I know it´s only anecdotal but I haven´t had a single issue with it´s performance so far, which is also the case for a friend of mine who bought it. Getting from sleep mode to playing Zelda is only a few seconds.

This 'all 2,5m launch units are really just devkits and not finalized hardware' is pretty much debunked with the confimation that developers have access to three cpu cores and 3GB of ram for games. The rest is reserved for the OS. These specs aren't going to change anymore, except maybe to improve OS efficiency and free up more RAM and CPU (By moving the OS to the 4 smaller cores) for games.

Yes now that information is released clearly it is 4GB. I never realised the Switch background operating system would be so resource hungry with regards a whole cpu core taken. The graphic user interface looked so basic and simplistic I thought Nintendo had really paired it back to give more resources to games but I guess now we are down to about 14,000 mips cpu performance for games, between wii u and 360/ps3 and now the memory bandwidth of only 25.6GB/s has to support both games and the background operating system. This explains now why the Switch is performing to such a low level, below expectations to be honest. I even suspect Zelda is using the 200 gflops boost mode in portable mode hence the low battery life. Perhaps they were forced to do this when Zelda on wii u was actually performing above portable Switch mode at 150 gflops.

It also looks like background processing is also used for wifi and possible other processing so that has an effect to. Maybe extensive use of wifi will effect frame rates on  games with network features.

The fact it is a stock X1 though which I stated as a possibility as soon as we saw the teardown of the Switch with no Nintendo branding on the chip means I'm still hopeful of an improved pcb revision sooner rather than later. Maybe such a model will launch for this Christmas. It will look identical but just be cooler running with slightly improved battery life and quality improvements to the display and bluetooth antenna's.
