I honestly thought at the beginning of last year that Microsoft's big game at E3 2016 was going to either be Fable 4 or a new IP from Lionshead. And then they got shut down.

I honestly don't know what Microsoft's could do besides Halo, Forza, and Gears now. Maybe The Coalition is a big enough team to work on two games at once and that new IP they showed while they were still called "Black Tusk Studio" can see the light of day? Rumor has it that that Rare is working on more than just Sea of Thieves, so we'll see.

Microsoft really only has four AAA first-party developers now. The Coalition, 343i, Turn 10, and Rare and three out of four of those are designated to one franchise. It wouldn't be so bad if Lionshead were still around to aid Rare in being a wildcard for Microsoft.
