I barely see any pc players either.  Doesn't mean there isn't any. Ever think the ps4 players at the top have set it so they don't play pc players? I'm not sure the reason why I see a ton more ps4 players though,  probably just the matchmaking. 

Well it's easy when you look at public rankings and see barely any non PC players.

The game started on PC with its alpha and gained a lot of word of mouth long before release. The comparison to the prequel is just bad. Back then they had zero marketing and people only stumbled accidentally over it. This time around they put massive amounts of money into marketing, also with the help of Sony of course. Even without the free  month they've put a lot of effort into marketing and got a lot of positive press.

Just because you just heard of it because it was free doesn't mean everyone else did. It maybe wouldn't have been as big on PS4 as it is now but that's just a small portion of the current active playerbase.

I didn't say everyone did.  I said a massive number of people did which is true.  Ps plus allowed it to become an absolute behemoth.  

 

I'm a hardcore player yet my rank is only rising star.  Pc players are at an advantage so of course the very top has more of them.  

 

Look at number of active players playing at any one time.  It's obvious both ps4 and pc have massive numbers of hardcore players playing everyday.
