StreaK said: So, Horizon is outselling Zelda in 3 of the major international markets: ITALY: Horizon#3 Zelda#6 UK: Horizon#1 Zelda#9+10 FRANCE: Horizon#1 Zelda#3+5 All around they are neck and neck....I can't wait to see how the final first week numbers are going to turn out. My money is still on Horizon edging Zelda out in total WW numbers. Interesting facts: Zelda is a long running hugely popular franchise that has just been released after like 6 years on a brand new console so excitement and demand are HIGH. Lot's of nostalgia for this series due to how long it has been around. Even still, the install base is still in its infant stage but the fact remains, fans will be FIRST in line to pick it up. Zelda is one of those kinds of titles. On the other hand, Horizon has NO history whatsoever and is from a developer that made FPS games that really didn't leave a lasting mark on the gaming industry. It's a brand new IP that no one really knows about yet here it is standing neck to neck with Zelda. It's Guerilla's first open world game and it's delivering. Word of mouth will be strong with this one. Seriously, this is like the most exciting sales battle since I can remember since when was the last time two big profile games released like in the same month (within a week apart.) I'm REALLY curious which game will get the #1 spot overall. Based on Amazon sales, the edge may be favouring Zelda right now but you still gotta equate retail AND digital sales. Horizon could be big digital. We shall see. |
In all fairness though, Horizon has an at least 2.5 times install base to exploit if you consider bothe the switch and wiiU as a combined intsall base with regards to zelda. But thats not taking away from it still doing very well for a new IP.
Am I the only that is getting this sneaking suspicion that this gen is about to become a tw way race between the PS4 and the switch and the XB1 is gonna become irrelevant... even with the scorpio.
