It's actually the reality we live in. You don't own the actual game no matter how many tiems you can say it, you merely paid for the license fee to play said game. No matter physical or digital, you do not own the game, you just paid the license fee. There are even rules put in place that they can take the game away should you break the rules and regulations, it's what most contracts state these days.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
