I have been literally amazed at this game's abundance of free reign. I have stopped using a horse just so I can traverse the open world. Explore every detail. Try to climb, kill, chop, hit, bomb, burn anything... much like I did in the original zelda. Absolutely love it.

In the beginning I was wondering how I can get a horse to travel faster, after many hours a hint popped up in the loading screen. I thought I'll try it the next time I get a chance, but after I had a horse, it just seemed impractical most of the time. Susi isn't really fast and I have to leave her behind pretty much every time I spot something of interest. Makes no sense to go back over a mountain. Makes also little sense to pick up the horse from the station again because it's going to be abandoned again in no time.

But I think there could be something like a permanent horse that always comes to you if you whistle, provided you are on reasonable surface. I have no hurry to pursue this endeavor though. Finding shrines to get more stamina is a lot more desirable than horse riding.

I just use horses as a fast travel sub basically. As you said, its so easy to be riding a horse and be like "ooh I see somethign shiny" and go and investigate and then you are too far from our horse for whistle to work.

So only time i use horse is when I am 100% goal lining to somehwere and I prefer traveling to experience the world fersus fast travel.
