Why the heck did you buy a Japanese PS3 if you can't even read Japanese? I'd advice you to sell it and to buy an American or European. I don't advice an Asian system to any Western if they wish to play their Western games "normal" on their PS3 console, without suff being censured or being completely different, such as a Japanese Ratchet.
Especially if you wish to play those PS2 games on the PS3, which are no JP versions, then indeed you have the wrong PS3.
