Music is such an underrated component of video games. I think on a whole Square does a really good job of creating memorable, engaging soundtracks. FFXIII despite it's problems, had a really great soundtrack. Good music is able to enhance a narrative and licit emotion from it's audience.

My personal favourite main theme is MGS1's The Best is Yet to come and Snake Eater. Every time I hear those tracks, I instantly want to go replay the ENTIRE MGS saga.

Perfect.

OMG The nostalgia dude!  I love the Snake Eater theme song. It stuck out like a sore thumb because of the tone of the game. It was almost like a parody of itself, since the game was so serious yet the characters were so outrageous. My favorite MGS of them all as well.

MGS3 is probably the GOAT game in my eyes. It uses music pretty well actually. Like Snakes climb up the ladder in MGS3...and then the snake eater theme slowly bleeds into the background, blending in with the sound of Snake's ascension up the ladder.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi
