Absolutely. I couldn't care less about online multiplayer, but if a game lacks local then it kills it for me. The lack of a decent local multiplayer mode is what killed Splatoon on the Wii U for me. As local is a big part of the reason I'm so big on Nintendo, I hope they keep their focus on it.

My biggest concern when Nintendo announced paid online subscriptions wasn't the new paywall or the likely less than stellar service, but rather that it provided a new financial incentive for Nintendo to go down the same road of restricting local multiplayer that the others have. I hope that concern proves unfounded.

Otherwise, I spent ten minutes trying to figure out how to get local to work with Splatoon, I could hardly believe that they didn't have it. Given the nature of the Switch I have to imagine they'll have it for Splatoon 2... if not, shame on them.
