Well the salaries of a small portion of Naughty Dog are still probably going to be much higher than those of a lesser known AA or indie dev and when it comes to Karting games I simply don't think there's really that much more that can be done. Just look at the Sonic & Sega All Stars racing games, Sega shipped that out to Sumo Digital, who given their previous releases can probably put out games at a much lower cost than Naughty Dog ever could, yet those games were still really good karting games. I don't think they were quite Mario Kart level, but they weren't that far off. Besides, Sony probably already have some other kinds of deals with smaller studios that mostly work on porting stuff that would love the chance to develop a brand new karting game. |
I do like the idea of sending work to smaller teams, but this could also be a good chance for Naughty Dog to train new employees.
