Why is that such a far fetched idea? GTA started as a top down game. Then on PS2 Rockstar basically set the standard for open world games with GTA3. It doesn't seem like to much of a stretch to think they would have a major role in setting the new standard for gaming with a VR GTA game. It is going to take the full efforts of big World Class developers to get people really talking about VR, and if you have any interest in developing industry leading software, you want to do it on the best tech available. The way I see it. Red Dead is coming out this holiday or maybe early 2018 depending on delays. I don't expect GTA6 any sooner than later 2019, with 2020 being much more likely. At that point the Console/PC VR userbase should be considerably larger, and GTA alone will massively increase that number. In fact I would not be surprised to see a GTA6 VR exclusive push VR, and still sell as much, if not more than GTA5. Once people play a well made VR title, this wil be something they absolutely have to have. |
It's really simple to tear down that statement. You presume that there's gonna be a large VR userbase. I disagree. Why cater exclusively to a mass that's cca 2 million strong at the moment, while ignoring the hundreds of millions without VR? It's not feasible in any way. I like GTA, but I'm not splashing out hundreds of euros on a peripheral just to play it.
