I think we all agree that no one expected Nvidia to make these price drops. I even doubt AMD were expecting this. In any case, better for the consumer.

Yeah, but who would buy a 1070 if you can get get a 1080ti for just $350 more!

Maybe those who couldn't buy a 1080... which is most of the people. Or you don't pay attention to the tables Conina put on the PC thread?

And hey, as Pemalite said, with this price drop there's a lot of people that will think about getting a second 1070 and SLI them.
