If games as a service becomes popular than game stores will disappear even faster. The value of second hand games will erode, both for stores and people selling on ebay, including re-selling digital games through loopholes. Which in the end means less money in circulation to buy new games day 1, which is what the AAA industry relies on.

Plus you play $120 a year for someone else to decide the menu for you. Are the things off the menu going to go up in price to compensate? What are the incentives for developers to be on the menu. They can't expect much of that $120 a year divided by 100 games.
