Secret weapon?, to do what?.
It's akin to a lightgun, a concept that has been around for yonks. Also hard to say that the other VR device won't ever get anything of their own in terms of a "secret weapon".
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
