It would be a very stupid thing for MS to do. They wait a year and release the scorpio as the XB2 in 2018. Hardware that wouldn't be a day and night difference from what we have with the PS4pro.
All sony has to do is leak information of an upcoming (insert cool code name here) and that will completely steal the steam from everything scorpio. Then e3 2019 sony does a PS5 reveal event and talks up hardware that has twice as much processing power as the scorpio and due to release in 2020.
People will wait.
If anything, I see the scorpio coming out this year to be a guarantee that we wont see new hardware from either MS or sony till around 2020. Having the PS4pro and scorpio on the market now allows them both chill and make the best and most affordable PS5/XB2 consoles they can for release around 2020/2021.
