Eh symphonia combat blows, I only played it recently mind you but it was unresponsive and dull. I haven't played the other two you mentioned, I do own them but haven't gotten around to playing them. I've watched my GF play lots of Berseria and tbh it looks pretty good compared to Zesteria. I think the main thing they need to do is get a new engine, make the enviroments less bland and tone down of the talking cutscences. |
That is not gonna bring back the fandom. Tales of had something that made it different from the competition and that was the 2D perspective action combat system. Every big sucess of the series used that combat system.
The current Tales of series is simply yet another JRPG. There is nothing that makes it different from Star ocean for example, except the setting. There is nothing special about Tales, and that is the problem. They have also held on to skits, wich were great when introduced but nowadays we have seamless conversations while gameplay continues. They even have some of that in the game but still stick to the system that makes you stop the game to watch 2D portraits talk to each other. That doesn't work anymore.
The way to regain the trust of the fandom is to show them something they know they like. Wet noodles don't work anymore.
