A micro war is still possible. And no, it's not blown out of proportion. China is slowly eating away South East Asia. Militarizing those international shipping routes will do bad for the whole economy.

China is already facing sever debt/inflation problems, a corrupt government and an agin population. If they engage in war they'll have huge financial repercussions. Now, I don't like the Chinese government either, but don't let war rhetoric sway you.
