AUSTRALIANS WILL BE CHARGED 10 PERCENT GST ON STEAM AND HUMBLE GAMES [UPDATED]

It's been a very real possibility for years now, but it's finally happening: Australians will be required to pay 10 percent GST on every Steam purchase from July this year. The report comes via Kotaku, following an email reportedly sent to developers by Valve.
Update: The Humble Store confirmed that it will begin charging 10 percent GST on purchases made from Australia as well, although it did not indicate when that policy will take effect.

STEAMVR DEVELOPER BUILD FOR LINUX LANDS IN GITHUB

When Valve released SteamVR alongside HTC's Vive headset last year, it only supported Windows, leaving Linux and Mac OS X developers on the outside looking in. The Mac OS X camp is still out of luck, but Linux developers now have access to a development build for SteamVR in GitHub, PCWorld reports.

EA has announced that the big Live Fire update for Titanfall 2 announced in January will go live tomorrow, February 23. The update will include two mode-specific maps, Featured Playlists, a new execution move, a new Coliseum map, "mixtape-style matchmaking," and a big list of bug and balance fixes.

Assisted by robots and a central AI system, he's wound up on the isolated planet Naic where he's forced to "navigate the physical and political" dangers posed by Nomoni Inc's controversial mining programme.

 

EVE ONLINE'S PROJECT DISCOVERY WILL LET PLAYERS SEARCH FOR REAL-LIFE EXOPLANETS

As you might've spotted in mainstream news today, astronomers recently discovered seven worlds similar in size to Earth revolving around a star within the Aquarius constellation. In light of the exoplanet find, EVE Online plans to launch its second variation of its crowdsourced Project Discovery with the aim of tracking real-life exoplanets in-game.

As Phil discovered at QuakeCon last year, Arkane's incoming space-flung alien-blasting shooter Prey lets you morph into various objects in order to access otherwise unreachable locations and overcome otherwise insurmountable obstacles. Previous demo footage has shown protagonist Morgan Yu transform into mugs in order to roll through small gaps in windows, but the latest trailer shows our hero shapeshifting into a variety of different objects—including headphones and pizza boxes.

 

PAMELA RELEASE DATE SET FOR EARLY ACCESS

It's been close to a year since developer NVYVE last showed us moving pictures of forthcoming sci-fi survival horror game Pamela (or P.A.M.E.L.A., as it's stylised), but its latest short has reminded me why I'm looking forward to it. Named Downfall, the latest teaser marks its Steam Early Access launch date: March 9.
