Doesn't matter really. The good thing about having more cores than a game actually needs is... You can run other things at the same time without any slow-down at all.
Xsplit, Music Playback, Twitch, Encoding, Skype, Virus Scanner, OS Background tasks and more whilst playing a game? Not a problem.
It's why I have had a 6-core processor or better since 2010, 7 years ago, because even though allot of apps only use 2-4 cores... I can run multiples of them.
