Vega should be a massive step up over Polaris, AMD is adopting a ton of similar tech that has allowed nVidia to have the edge since Maxwell.

The $499 Ryzen 7 1800X and $399 Ryzen 7 1700X CPUs already occupy the first and second spots on Amazon’s best sellers list for CPUs. Across the pond on Amazon.co.uk Ryzen processors occupy the top 3 spots. There’s clearly an immense pent-up demand for more affordable high performance desktop CPUs. It’s also very clear that the markets appetite for high core count processors is healthier than it has ever been. |
Price/Performance is ultimately more important than just sheer performance for the majority of consumers, so it's not at all surprising.
But it is good news for AMD, they needed a ton of success to drive sales and get them profitable.
I am hoping the transition to 7nm is a quick one, 8-core Ryzen at a much lower powerlevel? (HTPC anyone?)
