That's not the argument I see here. The argument I see here is that the odds favor a new, highly anticipated entry in a venerable franchise from an acclaimed developer rather than an unproven new IP from a studio not nearly as acclaimed. That's not an unreasonable stance. If this were a Naughty Dog game then you probably wouldn't see that as much. But it's a Guerilla Games game.
As for Sony and MS, Sony has indeed had it going on and no one denies that. MS, though, has not. Halo has well and truly fallen, Overdrive failed to gain traction, Forza has been so overused that thw hype for the franchise has greatly faded, Quantum Break was disappointing on all fronts. MS has mainly kept the Xbone relevant via aggressive bundles, fire sales, and other such tactics. Tactics that have bitten them in the rear as now they can't even sell their products consistently at price parity with Sony and sales constantly crater whenever one of those big sales isn't going on. So Sony is dominating, MS is just getting by.
