Nah, Microsoft's strategy looks like they'll put out dumbed down PCs every three to four years to appease the console gaming market while none of their games are going to be Xbox-exclusive anymore. Microsoft has no reason to heavily push Xbox, so they bring together what they teared apart about 15 years ago. PC and Xbox it is from here on out.

This strategy will put more pressure on Sony than anything else Microsoft could come up with. Sony has already launched PS4 Pro because they realize that they need to defend themselves against proper PC gaming and thus need more regular hardware refreshes.

What I just proposed will have the Xbox 2 still be a PC. Xbox is just a marketing name to the +150 million market that buys consoles.

Scorpio won't put a dent in Sony's plans. It's "a new console, but not really", and without exclusive games, it's a cannon without balls. Sony figured the formula to be nr1 is exclusives+good hardware. They're on a 3 yearly schedule now, not bound to legacy hardware, giving us both HW upgrades, ecosystem BC and traditional gens. MS is really gonna miss the boat with their rebellious "no muh genz" attitude. Sooner or later they'll face a brand new PS5, whether its Scorpio or Scorpio 2 years from now, they're missing the sweet spot to migrate current gen gamers. 2017 too early/no own games, after PS5: DOA
